Semester 2 Update

White Coat

I’m excited to share that I recently received my white coat! I’m looking forward to transitioning into prosthetics and gaining hands-on experience working with patient models.

I’m incredibly grateful for the mentors, faculty, family, and friends who have supported me along the way. I’m excited to keep learning, growing, and making an impact in the lives of others.

Classes

I am now a few months into my second semester, having completed my first two orthotic courses! Both classes were challenging but also very exciting to complete.

It was fascinating to see how alignment, trim lines, and material choices all play a role in controlling motion and supporting the body. I also began to better understand how to assess patients and determine which orthotic intervention would best meet their needs. Both classes allowed me opportunities to practice casting, modifications, and fitting techniques

Overall, this semester has solidified my passion for orthotics and prosthetics. It reminded me why I chose this field—to directly impact patients’ lives by improving their mobility, independence, and overall well-being. I’m excited to continue building on what I’ve learned and to take these skills with me into future clinical experiences.
